The ACi has a training and education pathway which forms part of its training offering to members and non-members. It is comprised of three education and training components.
- Foundation Level – this level of training caters for private sector staff, internal and external, who do not conduct investigations on a regular basis and who are not members of an investigation team and who are not required to undertake serious or complex workplace investigations. The target market for ACi Foundation Level members is Human Resources, Security departments, Legal, Risk and Compliance employees for whom investigations is not a full-time role but who require some basic foundation knowledge and investigation skills. The Foundation Level also appeals to internal and external members seeking to get on the first step of a potential career in corporate investigations or those who are new to a corporate or non-governmental organisation’s investigation team. These courses also appeal to public sector colleagues seeking to move from the public sector to the private or NGO sector.
- Accreditation Level – this level will be for private sector staff for whom investigations form the majority, or all, of their role profile. Its target market is for members for whom corporate investigations is their professional role. The aspiration is that the ACi Accredited Corporate Investigator qualification will be a global benchmark recognised by corporates, professional bodies, governments, and the judiciary as a standard of competence. It would be a recognition of qualifying in the core skills for a modern-day corporate investigator. This qualification is currently under development.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) Specialist Level – this level will comprise specialist investigations training modules in specialist skills required by industry sectors. Specialist level modules could include advanced interviewing skills; counterfeiting investigation skills in the luxury goods industry; use of pro-active investigative techniques in the retail industry; specialist bribery and corruption investigation skills in the oil & gas industry; Sexual harassment (#MeToo) investigation skills in the entertainment industry; market abuse investigation skills in the banking industry; False claims investigation skills in the insurance industry etc. Given the breadth and depth of private sector investigation topics, the SME Specialist modules are vast in their potential to improve investigation skillsets across a wide range of private and non-governmental organisations. The ACi is currently developing a range of specialist, in-depth training offerings.
The ACi aspires to deliver training via:
- In-person training courses
- Live online interactive training courses
- E-Leaning modules
- Recorded Webinars on specialist topics (free to members)
