Gavin Lewis, Partner, Linklaters
Gavin specialises in regulatory investigations, working closely with colleagues in the firm’s Financial Regulation Group. He advises well known financial institutions, funds and corporates. He has extensive experience of managing multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues and investigations in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the US. He also advises clients on complex international commercial disputes, including disputes involving asset recovery, injunctions, contractual duties, mis-selling, enforcement of security, joint ventures, creditor and shareholder disputes and disciplinary matters. Gavin spent six months on secondment in the Enforcement Division at the Financial Conduct Authority in 2019.

This was followed by 6 years at Citigroup Inc. as EMEA Regional Director of Investigations, and 8 years as Barclays Bank Plc, Global Head of Investigations for Investment Banking & Wealth Management. Currently Head of Fraud & Investigations in Group Compliance at Lombard Odier, based in Geneva. To date, 40 years of international economic crime experience in both a law enforcement and corporate environment.

Dr McCloud is a recently retired King’s Bench Master in the UK High Court. She had a distinguished judicial career spanning nearly two decades. Dr. McCloud is now involved with Gatehouse Chambers’ Investigations group, works as a legal strategy consultant, mediator, and lecturer, and has authored several publications. Nicholas Marshall, Partner, Linklaters
Nick is a partner in the Employment & Incentives team at Linklaters. He has a broad international practice, having been seconded to Uber’s Employment Law team in Singapore (advising across 19 countries in Asia-Pacific) as well as spending time on secondment to Unilever in London and Rotterdam.
With increased regulatory activity across a number of sectors in recent years, Nick often advises clients on conducting internal investigations and engaging with regulators in contentious situations, often in relation to concerns raised by whistleblowers. Raf Mohammed, Technical Forensic Investigator, State Street Bank
As part of his role Raf conducts security related cyber investigations covering all EMEA operations and has been in this role since 2017. He has an MSc in Cyber Forensics and has been a Cyber Investigator for 13 years. Prior to State Street he was a Detective in the Metropolitan Police and later joined the National Cyber Crime Unit at the National Crime Agency. He has investigated and prosecuted high profile Cyber Investigations affecting the UK including liaising with and working alongside international law enforcement agencies. He specialises in forensic analysis of Windows/Mac and Linux systems, RAM analysis, mobile phone forensics and is proficient in industry recognised forensic tools and practices. Raf is also part of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) where he has mentored and trained new computer examiners.
Rachel Bass, Senior Investigations Officer, Lloyds Banking Group
Rachel joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2022 as part of Group Conduct Investigations. As a Senior Investigations Officer she leads case teams responsible for investigating Speak Up, regulatory and conduct concerns, specialising in Quality Control. She previously served for 18 years as a Royal Military Police Officer in the Army conducting criminal and conduct investigations overseas and in the UK. Rachel also sits as a volunteer Magistrate in the Adult Criminal Court.
Lorne Wiggin, Managing Investigator, NatWest
As well as running investigations, Lorne also manages a team of investigators and oversees the investigations they undertake. Having worked for NatWest for over 36 years, Lorne has undertaken multiple roles in that time from starting in-branch banking, through selling mortgages and the associated regulated products, Area Sales Management, Regulated Trainer, Compliance Manager and then Specialist Regulated Compliance Manager, prior to joining investigations in 2006.
Phil Walker, Credit Agricole
Phil has over 25 years’ investigation experience across the criminal, regulatory and corporate environment. He spent a combined 12 years with the Metropolitan Police, HM Customs National Investigation Service and SOCA (NCA), before moving to the FCA Enforcement (Retail and Wholesale) division. Phil’s experience leading corporate investigation’s includes time at EY, Deutsche Bank and Rio Tinto before moving to his current role at Credit Agricole Corporate Investment Bank, where he splits his time between Fraud, Investigations and all matters AML.

Elena Mokrestova, Santander
Elena has extensive international experience in Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering with global financial institutions with roles based in Switzerland, Spain, Mexico and Poland, with special interest in detecting money laundering patterns of Latin-American and Russian organized crime groups, as well as prevention of embezzlement of funds proceeding from public contracts. In her current role with Banco Santander, she is responsible for leading Financial Crime Compliance team covering Sanctions Screening, Transaction Monitoring, Investigations and Target Due Diligence. Prior to joining Santander Group in 2018 in Madrid, she was with Citigroup from 2009 until the end of 2017, covering the role of AML Global Investigation Unit Senior Compliance with Citi in Mexico as her last position, working on complex investigative projects on organized crime and corruption proceeds laundering in Latin American Region.
Madalina Florea, Lloyds Banking Group
Madalina has a legal background specialising in white collar crime (bribery and corruption), internal investigations and global compliance. She recently joined financial services to lead the SM/MRT group investigations team for Lloyds Banking Group, and prior to this she spent 15 years with AstraZeneca as Senior Counsel (Global Legal), Global Compliance Director and also business lead for the implementation of the global WB and case management platform but also design lead for the global third party management framework. Madalina is also a global risk SME in Human Rights and led the AstraZeneca Modern Slavery annual Statement and Audit Committee Reporting. In her investigations career, Madalina led material investigations out of Africa, Europe (including UK), Asia (including China), Russia, North America and Latin America, covering issues of bribery, corruption, major fraud (employee, contractors and third parties), undisclosed conflicts of interests, bullying/harassment (including sexual), all types of discrimination and also retaliation.
Bryn Parry Jones MBE, Director of Group Conduct Investigations, Lloyds Banking Group
Bryn Parry-Jones MBE joined Lloyds Banking Group as the Director of Group Conduct Investigations in 2020 and has led a continuous improvement programme since arriving. His previous experience includes ten years as Group Head of Security and then Group Resilience Director at Prudential, leading a wide range of security related programmes, including whistleblowing and investigations. Bryn’s early career included 23 years’ service as an officer in the Royal Military Police, serving in operational and staff roles globally, and more recently, leading a pilot project for the Home Office Innovations Team.
Arjen Berghouwer, Head of FEC Intelligence and Investigations, ING Belgium
Arjen joined ING in November 2022. Prior to that, he spent 4.5 years in the United States for Citibank’s global financial crime investigation unit and 8 years in Mexico for various financial institutions. As well as overseeing global complex investigations, Arjen has been involved in global project implementations and regional Compliance oversight. He started his career in financial crime compliance in 2005 with ABN AMRO in Amsterdam where he worked on a global project to re-assess the KYC client risk scores for all customers.
Robert Clarke, Global Head of Investigations, Citi
responsible for internal fraud and employee conduct investigations across all jurisdictions in which Citi operates. Rob is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the CSIS investigations program, including governance and operational effectiveness. He serves as a City Security and Investigative Services Executive Committee member. Prior to his appointment to the global role in 2017, Rob was Director of Investigations for the EMEA region and before that held other managerial and investigative roles since joining Citi in July 2002.

Anne Medlycott, JP Morgan
Anne Medlycott started her career with the City of London Police in 2003. She specialised as a detective and held several positions in Criminal Investigations, Public Protection and Economic Crime.She was promoted to detective sergeant in 2008 and again to Detective inspector in 2018. She has been involved in several high-profile investigations including murders, child abuse and serious sexual offences.Most recently she ran the Serious Organised Crime Team with an embedded NCA contingent, working predominantly on the distribution of drugs and money laundering which had a national and international remit. In February this year, Anne left policing behind to take up a position as Head of EMEA Investigations for JPMorgan Chase. They work with other key functions like Compliance, Legal and Employee Relations to ensure coverage across the region. This function sits independently from all lines of business to ensure fair investigations across the business.
Matt Perfect, NCA/NECC
Matt Perfect began his policing career in 1996 with West Midlands Police whereby he served in various specialised policing units including the criminal justice department, murder investigation units and force crime units. In 2005, Matt took a secondment to the National Crime Squad leading a number of high profile covert operations in the role of Senior Investigating Officer. Matt transferred to the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) whereby he was responsible for the obtaining of the first Serious Crime Prevention Orders under the new SOCAP legislation. In 2013, Matt transferred to the National Crime Agency (NCA) taking up the role of an International Liaison Officer. He led the UK response under Operation INVIGOR (Organised Immigration Crime), managing the European Union Regional Taskforce in Sicily whilst on secondment to Europol. In 2016, Matt moved to Afghanistan whereby he remained as a critical member of staff following the reduction of UK resources post the bomb of the 31st May 2017. In 2018, he accepted the role of Senior Manager within the National Firearms Targeting Centre defining the UK response to the delivery of both strategic and tactical operations. In April this year, Matthew transferred to the National Economic Crime Command (NECC) whereby he now leads the UK response to Fraud enabled from foreign jurisdictions under Project Winterproof.
Ian Dyson, QPM – COLP ex commissioner
Ian retired in 2022 from a 38-year career in policing, the last 6 as the Commissioner of the City of London police. In that role he was the National Police lead for Fraud, Economic Crime, Cyber Crime, Financial Investigation, and Business Crime. He was also the National Police lead on Technology and Information Management, and for 6 years was the National Police Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO). He is now trustee of a number of charities, and sits as a NED or Advisor to a number of companies in the crime, tech or cyber security sectors. He was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in 2016, is a Distinguished Fellow of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and in 2022 became a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) for Greater London.
Oliver Little, City of London Police
Detective Superintendent Oliver Little has been working in key policing leadership roles in economic crime for 15 years with experience across Cyber and Fraud operations, including industry funded units. Prior to his current post he was on secondment to the National Economic Crime Centre where he lead a series of national multi-agency intensifications targeting fraud and money laundering. In his current role he leads the coordination of the policing response across forces and regions and is a board member of the London and South East Fraud Forum.

Patrick Gushue, Acting Director of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Corporate Whistleblower Awards (CWA) Pilot Program
Patrick is a trial attorney with the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section’s Bank Integrity Unit (BIU) in the Criminal Division of the DOJ. The BIU investigates and prosecutes criminal offenses involving financial institutions and their officers, employees, and agents. Patrick previously served as a civil Trial Attorney in the Tax Division at DOJ, deputy speechwriter to former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, and an enforcement attorney at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Patrick received his law and undergraduate degrees from Georgetown University.

Elly is a senior lawyer with over 15 years’ experience advising on white collar criminal defence, internal investigations and cross-border financial crime compliance.
